Today we will finish up our story "Because of Winn Dixie." Which means next week we will start with something. Reading: There is no written homework for tonight! The new list of spelling words for our next story "Lewis and Clark and Me" will be coming home today. Please review the list for our pretest on Monday. Math: We will be finishing up with topic 2-6 Problem Solving today. Please review the skills we learned in Topic 2 over the weekend. We will review on Monday and have a TEST ON PATTERNS TUESDAY! Social Studies: Materials for the Social Studies project for the marking period will be coming home. Please sign and return the slip on Monday so I know that the materials have been seen. The project information will be due on October 16th. I encourage you to help your child but please do not do the work for them. We will construct the project together in class. Science: Please review your vocabulary cards nightly. We will review them in class and have a quiz on Friday September 18th! Timelines were due TODAY. The test passage will be different as the focus is on the students' comprehension and answering questions based on the text they are reading. This is just like the tests last year. This week we will work on fine tuning our routines and class systems! Everyone is adjusting well and we are having so much fun! Spelling: Students took their spelling pretest today. I am super proud of how well they all did on their first one! Please do corrections for each word 5 times each. Grammar: Study. Quiz on declarative and interrogative sentences on Thursday. Reading: Review vocabulary words for the test Friday. Math: None Social Studies: None Science: Chapter One Lesson 1 Check worksheet Remember to study your VO words nightly and timelines are due Friday! Math: Students will be begin working with patterns. Thursday-Lesson 2.2 will be taught in class. Friday- We will work on lesson 2.3 in class. Reading: We will begin reading reading "Because of Winn Dixie" next week and practice the skill-sequence and strategy-summarize. Vocabulary were given in class today. Please review the vocabulary words nightly for the quiz next Friday. Spelling: Lesson 1 words were sent home today. Students practiced them in school also. Please review them over the long weekend. We will have a Pretest on Tuesday and Post test on Friday. If a student has any words wrong on the Pretest they will need to write those words 5x each for corrections and a sentence for each word. These are due the day of the Post Test. Social Studies: We will begin with Lesson 1 next week in class. There will be a project sent home for the first marking period. Science: We will begin with Lesson 1 on Thursday in class. No homework, Vocabulary Olympics: The list of prefixes, suffixes, and root words were handed out today. Please do not loose them. You will need them to study. The prefixes will be reviewed in class and the students will make flash cards. I will only being making flash cards with them for the prefixes. It will be up to them to continue doing that for the rest of the words. Prefix quiz: Sept 18th, corrections (5x each) due Sept. 25th Prefix and Suffix quiz: Sept. 25th corrections (p-10x, s-5x) due October 2nd Prefix, Suffix, and Root Word quiz: October 2nd. No corrections with this quiz. Big VO test- October 9th Enjoy your 3 day weekend. If you have not done so, please return all important paperwork as soon as possible.
