Please finish the Prewrite portion of your Memoir Packet for Plot and Sensory details if you did not do so in class today! Homework update: If you did not finish your graph or map for the memoir packet in class, please do so this evening!
Period 3: Complete the guided questions for 3 memoirs of your choice from the ones that were sent home. Weekly Review: Week 9 will be due on Friday October 25th. Any students who is planning to complete extra credit for the first marking period should have it turned in by the END OF THE DAY Friday October 25th to receive credit. Words of the Week: chronological and liberate We will start diving deeper into writing our memoirs and begin reading Tuck Everlasting! Please watch for updates to the blog for any changes throughout the week. Monday: We will review and discuss three memoirs. We will talk about their structure and examples to help us be better writers for our own piece. We will begin looking at memorable events in our own life and mapping out memories of our neighborhood. HW: weekly review week 9 day 1 Tuesday:We will complete our maps and graphs from Monday! Tuck Everlasting Intro and Chapter One! HW: weekly review week 9 day 2 Wednesday 10/16- Today students were introduced to our upcoming novel Tuck Everlasting and the LARP format that we will use to analyze the story!
** Several students have asked if they could purchase a novel to do their work directly into. I will place a large order of Tuck Everlasting books from Scholastic for those students wishing to order their own. I would like to place this order by Friday so that we can get them in relatively quickly. The current cost on Scholastic is $4.50. ** If you would like to purchase a book for your child to use, please send in the money in marked envelope with their name. You can write a check to Scholastic or include the exact amount in cash please. THIS IS OPTIONAL! I do have books for the students to use in my room. Thursday 10/17- We will look of a few memoirs to get ideas about our own writing! We will begin sharing our book reports! *** Students will be coming home with grade reports with all grades included as of today. Please review your child's sheet and sign and return. This will show you their current progress, if they are missing any assignments, and give you an overall idea of how they are achieving in ELA before report cards come home in a few weeks! Friday- We will continue more with memoir building and finish our book report presentations! Weekly Reviews are due on Friday! It has been a crazy week! We are getting familiar with our text book set up and diving into our first story, "Brown Girl Dreaming".
We will have our test on the story next week! Remember: Book reports are due on October 11th. This is a half day of school! This week we finished up our CDT testing. Please watch for scores to be printed and sent home in the coming days.
