- any corrections for the terms quiz that you plan to do are also due tomorrow! Complete story 1 and 2 and questions in your new packet! Just wanted to send out a quick email and make you aware that students are bringing home their graded LARP projects today! I am asking that all of them be signed and returned to me tomorrow. If your student does not bring one home, this means that they have no completed one of the assignments. These assignments are not significantly late. These students have been given extra time in school over the last two weeks to finish them but still have not completed them.
Please check with your child for their rubrics. If you have any questions, please email me! Next week we will move on to a new LARP project. Students will be working in small groups on the same novel to complete all portions of the project. Students were given the opportunity to pick from a list of novels they would like to read and I did my best to give everyone their first choice! A small group of students have chosen to complete the assignment independently. The assignments that will be required are the same as with the other projects! This should be a breeze! From here, we will end out the year with a book report of their choice and a biography project that is life sized! As always if you have any questions, please email me. Enjoy your weekend! I have seen such a great increase in the effort students are putting into their Study Island assignments since December! Keep up the great work! You will be surprised at how much you are learning! If you did not complete an assignment that is past due, please do so!
LARP logs and paper 2 are now over due. If your child did not submit their paper, please have them do so. Points are deducted for each day the assignment is late. PAPER 3: Literary Elements are due on Monday January 27th. If you have a change to your phone number or email address, please send it to school with your child as soon as possible. I have been sending regular email updates out for parents on materials as we cover them. It is easier for me to know that all parents are reached.
If you are not receiving emails and would like to, please send in your information with your child's name and I will add you to the list. Your student will be beginning their new LARP project this coming week! This is their second time working with LARP to read a novel and understand the key elements. It will help them correctly identify the plot elements and literary elements found throughout the novel! LARP is set up as a 25 day reading analysis! The log should be completed daily as they are reading. It is important to be making notes on the given sections for reference later! I always recommend using Post It notes to track figurative language elements while reading. They should already be familiar with how to do this! We did it as a class when reading “Tuck Everlasting”. I will review the novels before your son or daughter begins to read to make sure that it is something they are comfortable with! Once their novel has been approved, they can begin to work! I am including all of the due dates for the assignments below. Please feel free to reach out to me by email at ANYTIME if you have any questions! December 18th- all novels should be approved by this date January 13th- all reading should be complete. LARP Logs and Plot Pyramids are due January 17th- Paper II on Story Elements are due January 24th- Paper III on Literary Elements are due (any assignment turned in late will be deducted points for each day that it is late.
